Finding Familiarity in Foreign Places, Changning District, 2022

Through a casual walk in Changning District 长宁区, I noticed that there was an interesting sense of comfort within this area. Although, I moved to Shanghai over a year ago now[2022], I had yet to explore Changning长宁区 the way I did on this day. I wanted to shoot images that represented how I felt in that moment.

These images are a collection of this foreigner walking through the city of Shanghai and finding that beauty can exist in the most mundane of places.

Finding Familiarity in Foreign Places, Changning District is set to be premiering its first showcase at the Shanghai Art Collection Museum as a part of the Shanghai in Foreign Expats’ Eyes Visual Exhibition from October to November 2022.
